Nicholas Deakins

25th Anniversary

“On one side of town there was Dave Beer and co, already moving the scene past the acid house era by going ‘Back to Basics’ and making the chances they needed to make in our city; then in another part of town Nicholas Deakins was just starting out, fuelled by Basics’ ‘no trainer’ policy, designing and making shoes for the Leeds lads to wear out.”
Stacey Hicken – Speed Queen

Nicholas Deakin was founded in the early 90’s during the birth of the Leeds clubbing scene.  A time that saw Back to Basics, Up Your Ronson and Speed Queen begin their journey to becoming icons and legends of this special moment in the history of Leeds.

We worked with the ND team to create a campaign that celebrated 25 years of their iconic footwear and fashion and brought to life the inspirations and opportunities for the founders, fresh out of art college.  A nod to the roots that influenced their brand development and season after season creations.

Above-the-line, digital and in-store activation used 90’s Leeds clubbing scene flyers as a backdrop for the anniversary milestone.
